Blue Test Print
Blue is the trickiest of the three secondary colors to get right, and it's worth understanding why before you assume your printer is at fault. It's built from cyan and magenta overlapping, and deep, saturated blues sit right at the edge of what CMYK ink can physically reproduce — even a perfectly healthy printer will struggle to match a bright screen blue exactly.
Standard CMYK printers don't carry blue ink on its own — this color is built by overlaying cyan and magenta. See below for what that means when something looks off.
Before you print: open the print dialog (Ctrl/Cmd+P) and enable Background graphics under "More settings." Without it, browsers strip background colors by default and the blocks below will print blank.

What This Reveals About Your Printer
This test isolates the cyan-plus-magenta overlap so you can judge it on its own terms rather than against an impossible screen comparison. A clean, consistent blue block with no streaking or gaps means both contributing channels are healthy and properly aligned. If your printed blue looks more purple or indigo than you expected, that's very often a normal CMYK gamut limitation rather than a fault — deep blue is one of the hardest colors for any ink-based printer to reproduce, screen-accurate. If the block is uneven, streaky, or has visible white gaps, that's a real print head issue in the cyan or magenta channel worth chasing down individually.

Why does my printed blue always look more purple than on my screen?

How do I know if it's a real printer problem or just a normal color limitation?
Check the solid blue block for evenness first. A consistent, streak-free block that just looks more purple than your screen is a normal gamut limitation. Streaking, gaps, or an uneven block means a real issue in the cyan or magenta channel worth testing individually.
Is there a dedicated blue ink cartridge?
No — standard CMYK printers build blue from overlapping cyan and magenta ink, the same way they build red and green from other primary pairs. There's no direct blue ink in a typical inkjet or laser printer.
