Nozzle Check Test Page

Run a nozzle check test to spot clogged inkjet nozzles by color before a big print job — print it directly from your browser in seconds.

What to Look For

Complete, unbroken lines

Every fine line in each color row should run solid and continuous, with no visible white gaps.

No missing sections

A color with a gap or a large blank stretch usually means that nozzle group is clogged and needs a cleaning cycle.

Consistent line weight

Lines should look uniformly solid top to bottom — fading partway through a row points to a partial clog.

All four colors present

If an entire row is blank, check that the cartridge is seated correctly and has ink before assuming it's a clog.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I run a nozzle check test?

Print this page and compare each color row to a healthy pattern: solid, unbroken lines. If a row has gaps or is faint, run your printer's built-in cleaning cycle and reprint to check.

What does a broken or gapped line mean?

A gap in a line means that specific nozzle is clogged with dried ink for that color. One or two cleaning cycles from your printer's maintenance menu almost always clears minor clogs — see our full guide to reading a nozzle check pattern for what larger gaps or a missing color usually means.

Should I run this test on a laser printer?

No — laser printers use toner and a drum, not inkjet nozzles, so this test doesn't apply. Use the black & white test page to check laser output instead, and see our ink vs toner guide for what laser-specific problems like banding and ghosting actually mean.
