Paper size test pages
A paper size test page prints at the exact dimensions of one sheet size. Use it to check that your printer picks the right tray, feeds the paper straight and prints at 100% scale instead of shrinking the page to fit. Print it, then measure the sheet and the border with a ruler. If the border is uneven or the measurements are off, check the paper size and scale settings in the print dialog before you blame the printer.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my test page printing smaller than the paper?
The print dialog is probably scaling it. Set Scale to 100% or Actual size instead of Fit to page, and check that the paper size in the dialog matches the paper in the tray. Most printers also can't print right to the edge of the sheet, so a small white margin all round is normal.
What is the difference between A4 and Letter paper?
A4 measures 210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 in) and is the standard size almost everywhere outside the US and Canada. Letter measures 8.5 × 11 in (216 × 279 mm). A4 is slightly narrower and taller, so a document set up for one size gets scaled or cropped when printed on the other.
Do I need to move the paper guides for each size?
Yes. Slide the tray guides in until they touch the edges of the stack without bending it. Loose guides let the sheet twist as it feeds, which shows up as a crooked border on the test page and is a common cause of paper jams. Reset them every time you change paper size.
